Sophie Alakija was born on February 7, 1994, to an Islamic family. She was raised in Lagos and spent her childhood there.
Her mother is a Nigerian from the Efik tribe of Calabar in Cross River State, while her father is from Lebanon.
Sophie has three siblings who are well known in the country. Her older sister rose to stardom after facing accusations of adultery and bearing the child of controversial actor and politician, Desmond Elliot.
Her older brother Mohammed keeps a low profile, while her younger brother Jay Rammal, also known as Golden Boy, is a model and actor signed to Kpcypress productions.
She earned honors in English language and literature/letters from Redeemers’ University in Ede, Osun State, one of Nigeria’s most prominent private universities.
Career
Sophie was born with an instinctive enthusiasm for acting and she has acted in several movies, including Drawing Strands, which was her most difficult production due to her pregnancy and frequent travel.
She made her acting debut in 2016 after encountering well known Nigerian actor Desmond Elliot at an event and informing him of her passion for acting. She earned a huge role, The Silver Spoon, in 2017 after only two auditions, thanks to Elliott’s encouragement.
In the movie, she plays Ella, the spoilt but intelligent and diligent daughter of a wealthy man, Mr. Henshaw (Desmond Elliot).
In 2018, she appeared in Make It or Break It, an African Movie Channel original. The following year, the renowned actress played Altine in the TV series Halita.
Sophie rose to fame after being cast as Tamara in the TV series Assistant Madams, which was released in the early 2020s.
